How Municipal Court Warrants Work
Henry County's municipal courts hear city ordinance and traffic cases inside their own city limits. Miss a court date, ignore a citation, or break a court order, and the issuing judge may sign a bench warrant. Georgia practice favors the term "bench warrant" for that kind of enforcement. You might also see "capias" or "alias capias" on a docket, which is simply a command to bring a defendant before the court; Henry County publishes no public capias lookup of its own. The city clerk holds the citation and docket record. HCSO deputies may serve a city warrant later, but the sheriff cannot tell you whether payment is still an option, reset a date, or recall the warrant. Only the municipal court does that. Start with the city printed on your citation.
Name the Henry County City Court Before Calling
Four incorporated cities operate their own municipal courts in Henry County: McDonough, Stockbridge, Locust Grove, and Hampton. There is no combined clerk for those city dockets, so a generic request for "Henry County municipal court" can land at the wrong window. Before calling, gather the full legal name, date of birth, city, ticket or case number, issuing agency, violation date, and court date. A good opener works like this: "I'm checking a possible warrant for myself or a relative. I have the name, date of birth, and case or citation number. Can you confirm the status and the next step?" Ask whether the case sits in municipal, State, Magistrate, or Superior Court, since that decides who owns the file. And never send a Social Security number or other needless data through a public form.
Municipal Courts Across Henry County
Every city court in Henry County keeps its own contacts and public tools. The table routes you to the office that owns the municipal record. No linked portal should be read as a live warrant search.
| City | Municipal route | Typical records | Phone |
|---|---|---|---|
| McDonough | Municipal Court and City Probation | Traffic, ordinance, FTA, court payment | 770-954-2872 |
| Stockbridge | Municipal Court, Government Window, Courtware | Tickets, notifications, calendar, appearance status | 770-389-7906 |
| Locust Grove | Court Services in Public Safety | Citations, court calendar, payment routing | 770-957-7055 |
| Hampton | Municipal Court and Government Window | Tickets, notifications, missed-date clerk review | 770-946-4513 |
A county felony file belongs with the Clerk of Superior Court, and a county misdemeanor or traffic case may sit in State Court. The city on the citation sets the municipal route in Henry County.
McDonough Henry County City Court Warrant Warnings
The McDonough Municipal Court page names Court Administrator Trisha Morgan and gives a blunt warning: failure to appear or pay can bring a warrant and/or a DDS suspension. An automatic $100 contempt fee may also apply. Some charges are must-appear cases, including DUI, a suspended or revoked license, hit-and-run or fleeing, and no insurance. Because those cases require a court appearance, an online "Pay My Bill" link is never authority to skip court. Call the court first, ask whether payment is still on the table, and confirm whether a warrant went out. McDonough takes municipal Open Records requests in person, by mail, fax, or email to the court administrator, which suits an existing docket record in Henry County but not instant warrant status.
Henry County Municipal Warrant Checks
Use all available channels in order, and keep each channel’s limits clear.
- Contact the issuing city court clerk with the citation number, name, date of birth, and court date. Ask specifically about FTA and warrant status.
- Use the city-authorized calendar, payment, or notification tool only for its stated task. A ticket row or balance is not a warrant certificate.
- Request an identifiable existing city court record from the city custodian when a copy or history is needed.
- Contact HCSO Warrant Services at 770-288-7100 when service status or the issuing court is unclear. Its office is at 120 Henry Parkway, McDonough.
Georgia runs no public centralized warrant system. HCSO posts no full-county active-warrant roster either, so an empty search result is not clearance in Henry County.
Stockbridge Henry County City Court Warrant Tools
Stockbridge works through three separate tools. The city-authorized Government Window ticket page handles payment. The city's notification form wants an email or mobile number plus either the last six citation digits or an exact driver's-license number, behind a captcha, and it warns that notification is not guaranteed. The Courtware calendar shows the court date and time, case number, ticket number, violation fields, payment links, and red styling on tickets that require an appearance. Red means show up, not "active warrant." Stockbridge's September 2025 amnesty covered eligible citations for that fixed month only, waiving qualifying FTA or warrant fees after full payment; it was never a countywide Henry County program. Note: Confirm any new Stockbridge program on the official city site, not a dated PDF or a shared post.
Municipal Warrants: What They Show
A Henry County city warrant record grows out of a municipal citation and docket. Any portal may show only part of that history. No city interface displays a definitive public warrant-status field.
| Citation or case number | The city identifier, such as CITY-CITATION-NUMBER, used to locate the docket. |
|---|---|
| City and issuing agency | The municipal jurisdiction and officer’s agency. |
| Violation and dates | The alleged ordinance or traffic offense, violation date, and court date. |
| Appearance or payment | Whether appearance is marked required and whether payment is offered. |
| FTA or warrant entry | A court-enforcement event that must be confirmed with the clerk. |
| Recall or disposition | The later court action, read with its date and order. |
The Georgia Uniform Traffic Citation carries warrant-issued and warrant-served fields. A later recall may never appear there, so ask the Henry County court for the newest entry.
Locust Grove Henry County City Court Warrant Route
Locust Grove Court Services sits in the Public Safety Building at 3640 Highway 42, next to City Hall. The city lists clerk Kim Jones at 770-957-7055, and payments are due by 4 p.m. the day before court. The posted calendar has shown a 2023 session, so verify the current date before relying on it. Locust Grove points payers to its payment route but publishes no active-warrant lookup. Public Safety covers police-report requests separately, and reports become available after five business days. Keep the records straight: a police report, a ticket payment, a court docket, and a Henry County city court warrant are different things. Send each request to the office that keeps it.
Clearing a Municipal Court Warrant
Only the issuing court can end a Henry County municipal warrant, and it has several ways to do so. Payment might clear it. So might a reset, an appearance, a bond, or an order recalling the warrant. Ask the clerk, not a payment vendor, what your case requires. Call the clerk right away after a missed date or in a must-appear matter.
- Confirm the city, citation, FTA entry, warrant status, amount, and appearance rule.
- Follow the court’s approved route and retain every receipt, notice, and signed order.
- If custody or bond is possible, speak with an attorney before appearing and ask HCSO about the booking process.
- After court action, confirm recall with the clerk and service update with HCSO, then separately verify any DDS release.
Paying money does not always clear a Henry County warrant on its own. Hampton can switch off normal payment once a date is missed, and McDonough flags cases that must be seen in person, so the city's own rule governs.
Warning: Confirm a city warrant’s recall with the clerk; a receipt alone may not close the warrant or a separate DDS suspension.
Verify Hampton Henry County City Court Warrant Details
Hampton lets people pay tickets through its Government Window portal, but that tool is not a warrant search. Miss a court date and the portal's FAQ says online or phone payment may be off the table. At that point the clerk is the contact. The municipal court number is 770-946-4513. The portal's notification feature works by email or mobile contact. You'll need the last six digits of your citation or your exact license number. Location is murkier. One Georgia Courts document lists the court at 20 East Main Street. A city historic survey puts the police department at 4 McDonough Street, and City Hall sits at 17 East Main Street South. Don't just pick an address. Call ahead, confirm where the Henry County court now hears cases, and get the current hours and appearance instructions before you drive over.
